CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa – Lance Cpl. Derek Meitzer isn’t exactly singing the blues.
The Cleveland native, a combat photographer with Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, is like any other hard-charging Marine.
Except Meitzer just released his first hip-hop album through his own label, Kiem Media, on an Internet music store and has air space on radio stations across the Pacific.
The album, “Chivary, Soleminity, and other bad ideas,” hit virtual shelves in July. Meitzer said he received positive feedback from Okinawa and Filipino disk jockeys that played his music on their radio stations.

Today marks the 234th year of the United States Marine Corps. Happy Birthday Marines! I’m asking everyone out there to take a few minutes today to read an article about our brothers and sisters currently deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. It can be any type of news article; left leaning, right leaning, moderate, whatever. Just gather some information on the situation so our Veterans can return to a home that is willing and ready to listen and give those returning any time or assistance they need in adjusting. Let’s not allow any more Vets who honorably served our country to go jobless and hungry. Too many of our Veterans are being forgotten. Today and tomorrow, Veteran’s Day, talk to a Vet you know and thank them for what they have done for our homeland, America or any other country you claim on the world wide web. God bless.

Disney’s A Christmas Carol

Just got back from seeing the new Christmas Carol on IMAX in 3d. Overall, pretty dope. The animation was definitely Disney CG standard – which is quite high. The story telling was good, really serious with very few comical moments – which surprised me. I grew up on Mickey’s Christmas Carol – wayyyyy different. This new film is rather dark and had some jump moments. Jim Carrey did a really good job with the voice acting – Gary Oldman did an excellent job as his clerk, Bob Cratchit (the best played character). Not a bad movie at all – not necessarily a new Christmas Classic but it was pretty good. Overall, I’d give it a 6.45/10

Well…spoke to Terry Urban again recently and heard some new blends for the upcoming tape – really dope stuff. Can’t wait for it to hit the net and get everyone’s responses. So far ThatCrack.com and DatPiff.com are both going to have it on their sites as well as many more pages. It comes out Nov. 27 – the day after Thanksgiving, black Friday.
